Mesonet Weather Camp

Residential Camp

Available to: Rising 7th-9th graders

Dates: June 22 - 27, 2014

Location: OU Norman Campus

Tuition: $495 (including $50 refundable deposit).  Scholarships available.

Precollegiate Programs and The Oklahoma Mesonet is excited to offer a week-long residential camp designed to expose students to the science of meteorology, weather forecasting, and career opportunities through hands-on learning.

The National Weather Center will be home base for this camp and campers will have the opportunity to tour the facility including:

  • The National Weather Center
  • Oklahoma Mesonet instrumentations facilities
  • NOAA's Storm Prediction Center
  • The Norman National Weather Service Forecast Office
  • NOAA's Science on a Sphere Display

Application Process

Students must complete the following to be considered for a spot in the Mesonet Weather Camp.

  • Camp application form.
  • Students must submit a 250-word essay explaining why they want to attend Mesonet Weather Camp and what they hope to learn for the program.  Please include any extra-curricular activities.
  • Students must obtain teacher recommendation forms from their current Math and Science teachers.
  • $50 refundable deposit.

Scholarship Applications

Weather camp offers a limited number of scholarships to Oklahoma students, based on financial need. You may also request a scholarship application by calling (405) 325-6897. A completed application, with deposit, must accompany the scholarship application and be postmarked by April 18, 2014.
